Tomorrow afternoon, the Gaels head to North Andover, MA to face the MAAC-dominant Merrimack Warriors.

Both teams are fresh off overtime wins against top conference opponents; the Gaels got their win against the No. 2 Saint Peter’s Peacocks, and the Warriors earned theirs over the No. 3 Siena Saints.

Iona outscored Saint Peter’s 11-3 in OT, while Merrimack outscored the Saints 13-6, clinching a share of the MAAC regular season title in the process. Warriors guard Kevair Kennedy scored 32 and will be a huge factor in tomorrow’s game.

Iona climbed from 10th place to 8th, clinching a MAAC tournament spot, and with a win tomorrow and a loss from Mount St. Mary’s, they could make it to 7th.

In the last face-off between the Gaels and Warriors, Iona narrowly edged them out 61-60 with a last-second arc shot from Toby Harris. Anglin scored 22, 6-9 from 3, and Sabally added 18 with 6 boards.

Merrimack is hot, though, on a seven-game win streak; Iona was one of only two conference losses. Iona has only won two of their last five, and the Warriors are favorites for tomorrow’s matchup. ESPN rates them with a 73% chance of winning—but odds never stopped anyone. It’s either team’s game.
