Tomorrow, Iona will play the Rider Broncs for a chance to defend their home floor at the Hynes Athletic Center one final time this season, in addition to building momentum heading into the conference tournament in Atlantic City. They’re coming off of a tough and incredibly hard-fought 88-86 2OT loss against MAAC regular season champions in the Merrimack Warriors—with standout performances from CJ Anthony and Luke Jungers.
As for the Broncs, they’ve been long eliminated from the MAAC tournament, but they’ll try to finish strong after winning the last meeting against the Gaels. The last-place team is in a unique position of 0-14 in away games this season, with a 4-23 (3-15) total record. However, they have defeated, alongside Iona, Saint Peter’s, who holds the conference’s No. 2 spot.
With any remnant of the same fire from that game on Sunday, the Gaels will have a near sure shot of taking this game and splitting the series with Rider. Regardless, expect a competitive battle as both teams close out the regular season.
